Communication can be a tricky affair. This is especially true if we are trying to communicate differing views and overcoming conflict.
Because we have only lived our life as ourselves, sometimes it is not easy to see things from a different point of view or to understand what someone with a different perspective is trying to say.

I came across a short 5 min presentation I did at work about effective communication and thought it is a great reminder for me too.
The other day, a client wanted to work on the topic of communicating with his/her direct report. We explored what these points meant to him/her and how they could apply it at work and he/she was happy to report the following week that he/she had a great heart to heart session with that particular teammate and could feel alot more support from the teammate at work after that.
I actually use these exact same points when I am communicating with my teenage son and even when i am navigating difficult conversations with my partner :)

What do these points mean to you and how can you apply it in your life?
Are you going through something similar?
If this resonated with you, I'd love to have a conversation. I work with people navigating life's biggest transitions — divorce, loss, change, relationships, parenting, and health. Book a free 30-minute discovery call and let's talk about where you are and where you want to go.
