Resting In Unity

The other day, I was attending a workshop and I came across this phrase “resting in unity” and it really moved me from a level 1 and 2 level to a and level 5 and 6 immediately.

I had been facing some difficulties and had been feeling stuck and unhappy for quite some time. Despite me being a trained coach and being well trained in personal development, it felt as if it was impossible to get out of this rut. It was the first time in a very long while I was this down. I was surprised at how overwhelmed I felt and was glad when I was invited to do the English to Mandatin interpretations for a one day workshop conducted by my friends because I really didn’t enjoy staying in this state and I was sure there will be a takeaway when I had a chance to learn from them.

During the workshop, one of my friends (and also favourite Teacher), Francine, talked about how we can rest in unity and it totally blew my mind!

Resting in unity...

She explained that it is possible to be in unity (which is a state where we are one with our higher mind or inner coach) regardless of how we feel at this moment. Not only can we choose to be there, we can actually choose to lean in and rest inside this space if we are willing to give up our self attack and give ourselves the permission to take a bath in whatever negative emotions we feel.

Letting go of self attack...

Most of the time when we are feeling unhappy, one of the main culprits is self attack. Maybe we wondered why we did did something or maybe we wonder why we allowed others to do something to us. Maybe we feel guilty for something we did, something we didn’t do, something we said or even something we didn’t say but should have. Sometimes we wonder why we keep getting stuck in some vicious cycle and sometimes we think we must be experiencing this because we are “not enough” in one way or another. Sometimes we are just really angry at ourselves for screwing it up.

It doesn’t matter why or how we are attacking ourselves. We could choose to let it go because most self attack thoughts are from the ego and are just there to keep us distract us from the guidance of our higher mind or our inner coach.

Giving ourselves permission to rest in negativity..

After letting go of our self attack, we can next imagine all our negative emotions as the water inside a filled bathtub. Then we gently step into the tub and just lie down, relax and rest inside the tub.

Here’s what happened when I tried that...

As I imagined myself walking stepping into the bathtub full of emotions, sat down in the middle and decided now I will now rest in this pool of bad feelings, I found out that I actually felt peaceful in the middle of it all! Probably like how it will be all cool and calm in the middle of a storm.

I was pleasantly surprised to find myself feeling peaceful. It was a strange feeling because I still felt all the other emotions such as anger depression and unhappiness but at the same time, I actually felt peaceful! That gave me so much more power to work through my issues and I must say it was a turning point for me.

Sure, I was still feeling angry and upset about things but I also felt peaceful. It felt like mind was split into two parts and I could experience both parts at the same time. At any rate I figured it was better to feel peaceful and upset that to only feel upset.

Just having this realisation that I had the power to choose to be peaceful in the midst of chaos empowered me. It allowed me to easily reconnect with the part of my mind where my inner coach resided in.

I immediately felt different about my problems and leveraging on intuition; strength and direction provided by my inner coach, I managed to work things through with ease the very next day and return to my happy self!

The next time u feel upset of overwhelmed, why not try “resting in unity” and explore how it can free you from level1 or level 2 energy? It’s really amazing to be free!
